Windows 2008 R2 DHCP

Its not to often something as simple as DHCP gets an upgrade, or even if it does, rare that it warrants a mention. I upgraded the majoity of servers in our network to R2 over the weekend... as now that exchange 2010 is out (and implemented), i can have all 2008 R2 DC's. One of…

More exchange 2010 progress

So i finalised my migration to exchange 2010 today for adexis... all in all, the move was very easy. All our exchange 2007 servers are now gone and were a 2010 only org.... so next up is playing with the new features. There was a couple of minor issues 1) Activesync busted - found the…

Hyper-V VDI – 2008 domain functional level for pooled desktops

So i started doing some investigation into Microsoft's VDI solution - and found it to be quite quick and easy to get setup in my lab environment, but then encountered an article located at (Goolge cache copy) http://74.125.153.132/search?q=cache:A--BjXfttDIJ:technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd883265(WS.10).aspx+http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd883265(WS.10).aspx&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au Which specifically states that VDI Desktop pools requires the domain to be at 2008 domain functional level…

RDC 7.0 client available for XP/Vista

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969084 For those of you not quite what the significance of this is - basically it means that we can use the cool features in 2008 R2 Remote Desktop services now with down-level clients, instead of having to have everyone at windows 7 to take advantage of the features. Very handy. Now if i can…

Left 4 Dead 2 Ban upheld in Aus

So the 22nd of oct wasnt only a big day for the consumer release of win7, it was also the day that Left 4 Dead 2 was being re-evlauted by the Australian OFLC. Unfortunately, these pack of idiots have decided that seeing things that are fine in movies in a game, is unacceptable. Disappointing, but…

SCCM 2007 SP2 – where art thou?

The 22nd has rolled along and no config manager 2007 SP2 as yet... Hopefully its just a yank time difference factor! With so many of our customers wanting to get windows 7 ready for deployment - SP2 is the only thing holding them back. * Update * So it hasn't hit the config manager team…

Frag

So i watched a movie called "frag", about the world of pro gaming... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1266566/ was very interesting - not sure it covered all aspects, but interesting none the less, on an area that gets very little main-stream coverage (or very little coverage full stop) I had wondered about what happened in pro gaming since i…
