More exchange 2010 progress

So i finalised my migration to exchange 2010 today for adexis… all in all, the move was very easy. All our exchange 2007 servers are now gone and were a 2010 only org…. so next up is playing with the new features.

There was a couple of minor issues

1) Activesync busted – found the fix here –  http://www.expta.com/2009/10/exchange-server-2010-rtm-upgrade-and_22.html. Basically permissions on anyones AD acocunt who is a domain admin must have inheritance re-set

2) Once exchnage 2010 is installed, you can no longer remove the exchange 2007 PF DB – so i just deleted it out using ADSIedit…. and found this article to confirm it

http://www.proexchange.be/blogs/exchange2010/archive/2009/10/28/remove-exchange-2007-mailbox-role-fails-with-error-object-is-read-only-because-it-was-created-by-a-future-version-of-exchange-0-10-14-0-100-0-current-supported-version-is-0-1-8-0-535-0.aspx

I was impressed by the amount of blog entries out there already that seem to dealing with the minor issues associated with an exchange 2010 install.

I was however quite disappointed with the archiving functionality… i had assumed, incorrectly, the the “in mailbox personal archiving” was going to allow another database to created on a different storage tier, and have the mailbox archive content within that seperate database – this is not the case. The current mailbox archiving functionality is simply aimed at compliance, by the elimiation of psts…. which is a good aim – just not what i hope archiving would be (i dont think im alone here)

Hoping to get time to play with the biggie – DAG’s tommorow….
